The VICTORIAE DD AVGG Q NN ("Victories of our two Augusti") type belongs to a brief but deliberate propaganda push by Constans and Constantius II in the years immediately before the massive Fel Temp Reparatio flood coinage of 348 — the celebration of Rome's eleven-hundredth anniversary. Trier's mint was one of the western workhorses of this period, supplying bronze to Gaul, Britain, and the Rhine frontier simultaneously. The mintmark sequence at Trier for this type is closely studied because die-link analysis has revealed unusually high officina output, suggesting accelerated production schedules ahead of the 348 festivities.
