| Obverse description | Draped bust of a deity, most probably Persephone or a local goddess, facing left, wearing a wreath or stephane adorned with what appears to be a crested element atop the head. The hair is rendered in flowing locks falling behind the neck, executed in a Hellenistic provincial style consistent with South Italian coinage of the late 4th to early 3rd century BC. The facial features, including a straight nose, defined lips, and rounded chin, are modelled in low relief typical of cast bronze coinage. The broad, flat flan and irregular edge are characteristic of the large aes grave series of Luceria. No legend appears on the obverse. |
