The hemihekte denomination — one-twelfth of a stater — sits at the practical floor of early Lydian and Ionian electrum coinage, small enough that producing consistent weight standards across issues was genuinely difficult. Rosen 283 attributes this piece to an uncertain Ionian mint, which is itself telling: civic identity was already being stamped into coin by 600 BC, but not every issuing authority has been matched to a city with confidence after two and a half millennia of scholarship.
