The Mozarthaus on the Getreidegasse in Salzburg — where Mozart was born in 1756 and lived until 1773 — has appeared on Austrian commemorative issues before, but this 2025 paper piece reflects a continued appetite for tourism-adjacent souvenir currency rather than any monetary necessity. Oberthur Fiduciaire in France has handled security printing for dozens of small-circulation commemorative and test issues since the 1980s, and their technical infrastructure is well-suited to short runs of this kind.
