| Obverse description | The obverse features a proof-finish black field within a shaped cartouche border. At the top centre is a bust-length effigy of Grand Duke Vladimir the Baptist shown frontally with a halo and Orthodox cross, flanked by his name and title in the legend. Below, in high relief against the dark field, stand three full-length figures of Grand Dukes Rurik (left, with bow), Igor (centre, with spear and shield), and Svyatoslav (right, with spear), each identified by inscription. The lower segment of the rim carries two symmetrical heraldic shields each set against crossed sword and axe motifs. |

At the top is the double-headed eagle emblem of the Russian Federation, flanked by the dates 1945 and 2005. Below the eagle the legend НАРОД-ПОБЕДИТЕЛЬ appears in large relief lettering. The central device is the coat of arms of Moscow depicting St. George on horseback slaying a dragon. Two doves in flight flank the shield, and the fineness and weight marks AG925 2OZ appear to the lower right. The encircling border legend reads around the full circumference of the medal. |
