| Descrizione del dritto | A classically draped allegorical female figure, crowned, seated to the left, extends both arms to offer two laurel wreaths to two standing putti; the left putto presents an open casket containing a medallion or watch, symbolising industry, while the right putto holds a book and drawing instruments, symbolising the fine arts, with architectural elements and tools in the lower right field. The arms of the City of Geneva with the motto POST TENEBRAS LUX appear below the seated figure, and the engraver's signature A. BOVY is incised at the lower left. The legend ARC around the upper field and VILLE DE GENÈVE in the lower exergue frame the composition. |
