| Obverse description | The obverse depicts in high relief the Aveiro (Barra) Lighthouse, a tall cylindrical tower with a characteristic helical band and lantern room at the apex, rising above the keeper's building below. Coastal vegetation and sand dunes are rendered in the lower field. The legend 'MARINHA PORTUGUESA' arcs along the upper rim, 'DIRECÇÃO DE FARÓIS' along the lower rim, with 'FAROL DE AVEIRO' inscribed in the exergue area; the engraver's signatures 'Mª de Lourdes' and 'CUNHARTE-Adolfo' appear at lower left and lower right respectively. |
