| Obverse description | The field features a relief map of the state of Louisiana, upon which stand several iconic New Orleans landmarks in high relief: the St. Louis Cathedral with its twin steeples at left, a standing figure of a French colonial officer at center, a streetcar at lower right, and a circular medallion bearing a pelican device. The surrounding border is decorated with an ornate scrollwork pattern, with the convention legend arranged around the periphery and the dates in the lower field. |
