Riferimento/i
Descrizione del dritto This side features a symbolic composition linking naval tradition to technological modernity: NRP Sagres (Sagres III), a Portuguese Navy training ship, with sails bearing the Cross of Christ; A classic computer (with CRT monitor and keyboard), an icon of 1980s computing; On the screen in Leonardo da Vinci`s Vitruvian Man - a symbol of the balance between science and art, perhaps used here as a metaphor for the fusion of naval tradition and digital innovation; In the background, the stylised sea and sunbeams radiating from a rising point symbolise progress and vision for the future.
Scrittura del dritto
Legenda del dritto MARINHA PORTUGUESA 1962 1987 25 ANOS DE INFORMÁTICA NA ARMADA
Descrizione del rovescio It shows the coat of arms of the Navy`s IT Service, supported by an anchor: St. Andrew`s Cross with various symbols: A broken chain, which may symbolise freedom or a break with old paradigms. Computing symbols such as the infinity symbol (probably alluding to the continuous cycle of data or logic), ladder diagrams, and bits or planets in the upper right diagonal. The inscription ‘Sic et Non’ (Latin for ‘Yes and No’), a classic allusion to binary logic, but also to the title of the work by Peter Abelard — medieval philosopher — integrating rationalist symbolism. A possible stylised letter ‘H’ (or representation of a network or algorithmic structure) in the lower left quadrant. On the lower band: ‘Navy Computer Service’
