| Obverse description | Central field bearing the Islamic shahada in three lines of Arabic script: the first line reads the declaration of faith (There is no god but God), the second the attestation of the Prophet Muhammad as messenger of God, and the third the formula of blessings upon the Prophet. The inscription is struck in bold relief on a flat, unadorned field. The flan is irregular in outline, characteristic of hammered coinage of the period, with a slightly ragged edge and uneven surface texture consistent with hand-struck production. |
