Obverse description View in relief of the Gur Emir mausoleum in Samarkand, with its ribbed dome, flanking minarets and iwan portal, set against a starred field with a crescent moon. The legend 'SAMARKAND' arcs along the upper border, with 'MAUSOLEUM "GUR-EMIR"' inscribed along the lower portion. The whole is framed by a rope-style beaded border.
