| Obverse description | Hammered copper flan bearing a bold Arabic legend disposed in three lines across the field, reading 'Duriba / bi-Misr / Sana 974' (Struck in Egypt, year 974 AH). The script is rendered in a robust, deeply incuse Naskh style typical of Ottoman provincial mint production. The irregular flan shows the characteristic surface texture and edge irregularities associated with hand-struck coinage. No decorative border or ornamental elements are present, the entire field being occupied by the mint and date inscription. |

| Reverse description | The reverse displays an Arabic legend in five lines filling the field, reading 'Salim / Shah / ibn / Sulayman / Khan / 'Azza Nasruhu' (Selim Shah, son of Suleyman Khan, may his victory be glorified). The inscription constitutes the full royal titulature of Sultan Selim II, son of Suleyman the Magnificent, rendered in bold, deeply struck Naskh script. The pious honorific formula 'Azza Nasruhu' appears in the lowermost line as is standard on Ottoman coinage of this period. The flan is thick and irregular, consistent with hammered provincial mint production at Misr (Cairo). |
