| Descrizione del dritto | Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust of Theodosius I facing right, the pearl diadem clearly visible encircling the emperor's head. The portrait is rendered in the late Roman style, with the emperor depicted in military dress conveying imperial authority. The surrounding Latin legend reads DN THEODOSIVS PF AVG (Dominus Noster Theodosius Pius Felix Augustus), distributed around the obverse field. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of hammered bronze coinage of this period. |

| Descrizione del rovescio | A standing military figure, representing Virtus, is depicted facing left, holding a standard or spear in the right hand and resting the left hand upon a shield; a seated captive or trophy figure appears at the lower right, symbolising Roman martial supremacy over barbarian enemies. The composition conveys the ideological message of the VIRTVS EXERCITI (Virtue of the Army) type, common under the Theodosian dynasty. The reverse legend VIRTVS EXERCITI is distributed in the field to the left and right of the central figure. The mintmark ANTB appears in the exergue, identifying this specimen as struck at the Antioch mint, second officina. |
