| Descrizione del dritto | Right-facing bust of Emperor Arcadius, pearl-diademed, draped and cuirassed, rendered in the late antique imperial style characteristic of the Theodosian dynasty. The effigy shows the emperor in three-quarter view with paludamentum fastened at the shoulder, the cuirass visible at the truncation. The encircling Latin legend runs along the outer border of the field. The portrait displays the stylised, frontalising tendency of late Roman provincial die-cutting, with the diadem of pearls clearly articulated above the brow. |

Cyzicus was one of the most productive mints of the late fourth century, and issues from this period fall squarely within the administrative reorganization that followed Theodosius I's division of the empire between his sons in 395. Arcadius, barely seventeen at his eastern accession, was emperor in name while the generalissimo Rufinus — and later Eutropius — governed in practice. The Cyzicus mint identifier SMKB or its variants distinguish officina output that numismatists have used to reconstruct production sequences across the reign.
