| Beschrijving keerzijde | Aphrodite, draped in flowing garments, is seated left upon a stool or throne, her figure rendered with Classical drapery detail characteristic of late fifth-century BC Sicilian coinage. With her extended right hand she grasps the right wrist of a small nude boy — identified as Eros — who stands to the right before her, his left hand raised in a gesture of salute or greeting. Her left arm rests upon the seat of the stool. Behind the goddess, to the right, rises an olive tree, a symbol of divine and civic significance. The ethnic legend ΕΡVΚΙΝΟ appears in the field, identifying the issuing city of Eryx. |
