The goddess's hair is elaborately dressed with large rounded locks arranged symmetrically about the temples, falling to either side of the face in a style characteristic of late-archaic Sicilian coinage. The facial features display the transitional archaic-to-early-classical style, with almond-shaped eyes, a subtly modeled nose, and a slight archaic smile. No legend or inscription appears on the obverse. |

The ethnic legend ERYKINON in Greek characters is disposed around the field, identifying the issuing community of Eryx on the slopes of Monte San Giuliano in northwestern Sicily. |
