Obverse description A decorative cross composed of four crowned fleur-de-lis radiating outward, with four additional lilies diverging from the center to fill the angles, forming a symmetrical ornamental arrangement. At the center of the composition, a small oval cartouche bears the mint letter A, identifying the Paris Mint. The encircling legend in Latin reads LVDOVIC. XIIII. D. G. FRAN. ET. NAV. REX, affirming Louis XIV as King of France and Navarre by the grace of God. The overall design reflects the refined baroque engraving style characteristic of Jean Warin's work at the Monnaie de Paris.

Reverse description Two winged angels (supporters) flank and uphold a crowned shield of France semé with fleur-de-lis, rendered in high relief in the baroque manner. Below an exergue line, the date of issue is inscribed. The surrounding legend DOMINE. ELIGISTI. LILIVM. TIBI. — meaning 'Lord, thou hast chosen the lily for thyself' — frames the composition and alludes to the divine favor of France as symbolized by the fleur-de-lis. The composition is elegantly balanced and exemplifies the refined medallic artistry introduced under Jean Warin's direction at the Paris Mint.
