| Obverse description | Two quartered heraldic shields displayed side by side beneath an elaborate Gothic canopy with pinnacles and tracery: the dexter shield bears the quarterly arms of Brabant and Limburg (lion rampant), while the sinister shield displays the quarterly arms of Burgundy (with fleurs-de-lis and diagonal bends). The shields are supported within a pointed architectural framework rendered in fine Gothic style, with the entire composition occupying the coin's field. A circular legend in uncial characters surrounds the design within a beaded border, naming Joanna as Duchess of Brabant and Philip as Duke of Burgundy and Count of Flanders. |

| Reverse description | A floriated cross with elaborate foliate terminals divides the field into four quarters, each containing a heraldic shield, the whole set within a quadrilobe formed by four cusped arches. The central cross is richly ornamented with fleur-de-lis-style finials at each arm, and the overall composition reflects the refined Gothic decorative idiom of the late 14th-century Low Countries. A circular legend in uncial characters runs within the outer beaded border, declaring this a new coinage of Brabant and Flanders. |
