| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field dominated by the elaborate imperial tughra of Sultan Abdülhamid I, rendered in finely engraved calligraphic style with characteristic loops, extensions, and crossbars. Below the tughra, the mint name 'Kostantiniyye' (Constantinople) is inscribed in Arabic script, with the regnal year '1187' (AH) appearing in the lower exergue. The field is scattered with small decorative arrow-like ornaments and a six-pointed star rosette. The coin is bordered by a rope-pattern or cable inner circle and a toothed outer rim. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Abdülhamid I came to power in 1774 following the disastrous Treaty of Küçük Kaynarca, which ended the Russo-Ottoman War and forced the empire to cede Crimea — its first significant territorial loss to a Christian power. This kurus was struck at the outset of that reign, a period when Ottoman silver coinage was in chronic debasement. Billon at this weight and diameter reflects not a deliberate policy choice but a treasury under sustained strain from military expenditure and eroding trade revenues.
