| Obverse description | Central device comprising a episcopal mitre surmounting crossed sword and crozier in saltire, with a trefoil or clover ornament at the base of the arms. The arrangement is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of late 16th-century Swiss ecclesiastical coinage. The surrounding circular legend reads +HILTERBRANDVS+D·R·E·S, identifying the issuing bishop. The field is unadorned, with the crossed instruments serving as the principal charge. |
