The rider is shown in regal attire, holding a lance or sceptre directed downward toward a prostrate figure or serpent beneath the horse's hooves, evoking the conventional St. George typology inherited from earlier Muscovite coinage. The overall execution reflects the archaic artistic conventions of late Moscow wire money, produced immediately before Peter I's monetary reform abolished this coinage type. |
