The inscription references the mint of Sistan (Sijistan) and contains pious formulae or titles consistent with Later Saffarid jital coinage as catalogued by Tye. The calligraphy is executed in a compressed Kufic-influenced style, with individual letterforms boldly raised against the flat field. The flan is irregular and slightly chipped at the rim, as is typical of hand-struck billon issues of this region and period. |
