The Bahmani Sultanate was founded in 1347 when Alauddin Hasan Bahman Shah led a revolt against the Tughluq governors of the Deccan — making coins attributable to the transitional year of 1346–47 among the most historically loaded in the entire series. Ismail Shah was the Tughluq-appointed governor whose authority was being actively displaced during this period, meaning this jital likely circulated at the precise moment the political ground was shifting beneath the issuing power.
