| Obverse description | This side displays the obverse of the host Norwegian Speciedaler (struck 1629–1648, Dav# 3534), featuring a crowned lion rampant to the left holding an axe, set within an ornate shield in the central field. The surrounding legend reads BENEDICTO DOMINI DIVITES FACIT in Latin. Two Russian counterstamps are applied: one bearing the date 1655 in Cyrillic numerals, and another depicting a mounted horseman (the so-called 'jezdets') with a raised spear — the hallmark impressions of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich's monetary reform authorizing foreign talers for domestic circulation. |
