| 表面の説明 | The obverse displays the elaborately quartered heraldic achievement of Friedrich Ulrich, Duke of Brunswick-Wolfenbüttel, surmounted by a crowned helm with crest, supported by a rampant lion to the left. The multi-partitioned shield incorporates the various dynastic arms of Brunswick and Lüneburg, rendered in fine relief characteristic of early seventeenth-century German minting. A Russian countermark — the mounted horseman (Государев всадник) struck on behalf of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich — is applied in the field, authenticating the host thaler for circulation as a Jefimok. The encircling Latin legend reads: FRIDERIC ULRIC D.G. DUX BRUNSW, identifying the issuing duke. The overall die work reflects the sophisticated engraving tradition of the Brunswick ducal mint. |
