正面描述 Bare head of Melqart facing left, his hair rendered in flowing locks and covered by a lion's skin headdress, the scalp and ears of the lion clearly articulated over the crown of the head. The portrait is executed in a bold, archaic Punic style with strong facial features, and fills the flan with little remaining field.

背面描述 A single tunny fish (Thunnus thynnus) depicted in profile facing right, rendered in high relief with a streamlined, fusiform body and a forked tail fin. The fish occupies the central field of the irregularly shaped flan, with a plain, unadorned field surrounding it and no legend or exergual inscription present.

附加信息

Gadir — modern Cádiz — was among the oldest Phoenician trading settlements in the western Mediterranean, and its coinage served the commercial networks linking Iberia to North Africa long before Roman legions reached the peninsula. These tiny silver fractions circulated alongside the city's bronze issues during the Second Punic War, a period when Gadir initially sided with Carthage before submitting to Rome around 206 BC. The precise transition in civic authority makes attributing late issues within this date range genuinely difficult.
