| Obverse description | Facing head of Athena rendered in archaic style, shown in three-quarter view turned slightly to the left, wearing a crested Attic helmet with incised linear decoration on the bowl. The facial features are rendered with characteristic early Classical simplicity, with a prominent eye and strong jawline. The helmet crest rises prominently above the head, its incised striations suggesting individual plumes or a horsehair crest. To the right of the head, a small boar's head is visible in profile, serving as an additional civic emblem of Methymna. The overall design is compact and finely executed for a coin of such diminutive size. |

| Reverse description | An owl stands in profile facing right, rendered in the archaic style characteristic of Lesbian coinage of this period. The bird is depicted with a large rounded head, a prominent frontal eye indicated by a circular incuse, and folded wings with incised feather detail. The owl is surrounded by a border of small pellets arranged in a near-complete circle, framing the design within the small flan. Below the owl, a small crescent or additional symbol is discernible in the lower field. The reverse design echoes Athenian iconographic influence while remaining distinctly local in execution. |
