Beschrijving voorzijde A scallop shell depicted in full frontal view, its radiating ribs fanning outward from a central point toward a serrated upper edge, rendered in fine relief with naturalistic detail. The shell rests upon a flat base with two small rounded lobes at the lower margin, suggestive of the shell's hinge. The design fills the flan with bold, confident engraving characteristic of Tarentine coinage of the late Classical period. The field surrounding the shell is plain and unadorned, with no legend or inscription present. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with the hand-hammered technique of the period.

Beschrijving keerzijde A dolphin depicted in dynamic motion, arching to the left with its body curving upward and its tail fin swept elegantly behind. A youth or figure is shown riding astride the dolphin, grasping its dorsal area, rendered with fluid, impressionistic strokes typical of small-denomination Tarentine silver. The Greek letter epsilon (E), serving as a value or magistrate mark, appears in the lower right field. The composition is energetic and characteristic of the prolific dolphin-rider iconography for which Tarentum is renowned in ancient numismatics.
