Eryx was a Elymian hilltop city on the northwestern tip of Sicily, culturally distinct from the Greek colonies dominating the island's coinage. The Elymians claimed Trojan ancestry and maintained close ties with Carthage, making their silver issues — produced in a region otherwise associated with Punic bronze — something of a numismatic outlier.
