Pakor I ruled Persis as a vassal king under Parthian suzerainty, and these small silver fractions circulated within a region that had once been the heartland of the Achaemenid empire — a fact the Persis dynasts exploited deliberately in their iconography and titulature to assert local legitimacy. The kingdom maintained its own coinage tradition well into the first century AD despite nominal Parthian overlordship, a degree of autonomy unusual among Iranian client states.
The Peus and Sunrise references place this type within a tightly argued sequence established largely through auction appearances rather than systematic excavation, leaving the precise reign boundaries of Pakor I still debated among specialists.
