| Beschrijving keerzijde | Facing gorgoneion rendered in bold, apotropaic style, occupying the entire field of the die. The Gorgon's face is depicted with wide, staring eyes, a broad grimacing mouth with protruding tongue and bared teeth, and serpentine hair coiling outward around the periphery of the flan. The high-relief modelling and expressive, frontal composition are hallmarks of the archaic-derived gorgoneion type perpetuated in Parian civic coinage through the fourth century BC. No legend or inscription accompanies the design. |
