His torso is partially obscured by the forepart of a bull leaping to the right, around whose forehead Thessalos grips a restraining band with both hands in a taurokathapsia scene. The composition is enclosed within a beaded border, rendered in bold, archaic relief characteristic of Thessalian coinage of the mid-fifth century BC. |
