| Beschrijving keerzijde | A griffin seated in profile to the left, rendered in high relief with outstretched wings and a raised foreleg resting on a wheel or circular object, occupying the central field. The mythical creature displays finely engraved feather detail on the wings and a leonine hindquarter. The ethnic legend ΓΕΡΓΙΣΙΩΝ is disposed around the figure in archaic Greek characters, distributed across the upper left, upper right, and lower right fields of the coin. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Gergis was a small Troad settlement whose coinage is known almost exclusively from this single denominational type, struck over a narrow window in the late fifth century. The city's output was modest enough that specimens rarely appear on the market outside specialist sales.
