| Obverse description | Facing right, a boldly rendered lion's head in high relief with jaws agape, displaying prominent teeth and a deeply modelled mane rendered in stylized granular texture characteristic of early Lydian electrum coinage. The powerful, naturalistic treatment of the leonine features reflects the archaic artistic style prevalent in western Anatolia during the late 7th and early 6th centuries BC. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, consistent with early hammered electrum production. No inscription or legend appears in the field. |
