| Beschrijving keerzijde | A quadripartite incuse square dominates the reverse, divided by raised ridges into four recessed compartments of roughly equal size, each exhibiting a granular, irregular surface texture typical of hammered electrum coinage. The incuse design is deeply impressed and centrally placed within the flan, with the four quadrants alternating slightly in depth and texture. This standardised reverse type is characteristic of Kyzikene hektes throughout the classical period and served primarily as a guarantor of weight and metal consistency rather than as a pictorial device. |
