Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet with the bowl pushed back to reveal the face, the crest rendered with fine parallel striations falling to the rear. The facial features are finely modelled in the Hellenistic tradition, with a prominent nose and well-defined lips. Loose locks of hair escape beneath the helmet and fall along the neck. The field is plain, with no legend or subsidiary devices.

Reverse description Nike advancing left, her drapery rendered in flowing folds consistent with late Hellenistic die-cutting. She wears a stephane or an elephant-skin head-dress, an iconographic detail alluding to the Galatian king's connection to the Seleucid and Ptolemaic traditions. In her extended hand she carries a long sceptre. The Greek legend ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ appears above and ΑΜΥΝΤΟΥ below or flanking the figure, identifying the issuing authority as King Amyntas of Galatia.
