The figure braces a large, oval hoplon shield with the left arm, its concave face dominating the left field, while the right arm extends a spear diagonally across the upper field. The muscular body is rendered in a vigorous, archaic-influenced style typical of fifth- and fourth-century Asia Minor coinage. |

A prominent feathered wing rises above the body, its individual quills carefully delineated in high relief. The type is the civic badge of Kisthene and serves as the principal identifying device of this satrap's coinage. The inscription ΟΡΟΝΤΑ appears in the field, naming the issuing authority Orontas. |
