| Obverse description | Full-length figure of St. John the Baptist standing facing within a beaded inner circle, clad in a long robe with visible hair-shirt drapery, his right hand raised holding a cross-tipped scepter and his left arm bent toward his body. A nimbus (halo) is visible behind the saint's head, rendered in the characteristic Gothic style of late 14th-century Low Countries coinage. The surrounding legend in Gothic lettering runs clockwise between the inner beaded circle and the outer toothed border. |
