The shield is flanked by decorative gothic foliage elements extending toward the coin's irregular rim. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire composition, reading FRIDIC TRAIE CT EPS, identifying Frederick, Bishop of Utrecht. The die work is typical of early fifteenth-century Rhenish gulden production, with somewhat uneven flan striking. |
