Reverse description Central field features a bold cross pattee inscribed within a quadrilobe (four-lobed) inner border, the arms of the cross meeting cleanly at the centre and extending to touch each lobe. A beaded circle surrounds the quadrilobe, beyond which an uncial Latin legend occupies the outer rim, invoking the name of Conrad, King of the Romans, in reference to the traditional Genoese practice of citing the Holy Roman Emperor as nominal overlord. The coin exhibits the characteristic irregular flan and variable relief of hammered medieval silver production.
