Obverse description Youthful armored bust of Galeazzo Maria Sforza facing right, set within a reeded inner circle, with the ducal initials divided on either side of the effigy. The small Visconti serpent arms appear in the upper field above the inner circle. The legend encircles the outer border in Latin, identifying the ruler by name and title. The portrait is rendered in the late medieval hammered style characteristic of Milanese coinage of the period.
