The shield is rendered in the Gothic heraldic style typical of mid-14th-century hammered coinage. Surrounding the shield is a circular Gothic uncial legend reading '+W₀ DVX₀ ET₀ BOEM`₀ ARChP', identifying Wenceslaus I as Duke and heir to Bohemia. The overall die work is characteristic of the Trier (Trèves) mint workshop of the period. |
