The legend THB EPISCOPUS, identifying Theobald as bishop, runs within the border. The overall style reflects the Tournois gros tradition adapted for the Prince-Bishopric of Liège, executed in the Gothic manner typical of early fourteenth-century ecclesiastical coinage. |
