| Reverse description | The reverse follows the classic Gros Tournois design, featuring a plain cross with equal arms at the centre of a beaded inner circle, the arms extending to the border. Surrounding the cross within the inner circle is the abbreviated legend LEOD, referring to Liège (Leodium). A second beaded circle separates the inner field from the intermediate legend band, which bears the full devotional inscription NOMEN DNI NRI SIT BENEDICTVM. The outermost border carries LEOD CIVITATIS, identifying the city of Liège as the issuing authority. The arrangement closely mirrors the Parisian gros tournois prototype established under Saint Louis, adapted here for a major ecclesiastical lordship of the Lower Rhineland. |
