Each arch is decorated with foliate tracery, creating a rich Gothic decorative border characteristic of Capetian and Valois royal coinage. The legend FRANC-OR:REX, proclaiming the king as Rex Francorum, is distributed between the arches and the outer legend band. A beaded border frames the entire design. |
