(Translation: James king by the grace of God)
Reverse description A bold plain cross extending to the coin's edge divides the reverse into four quarters, each quarter containing a pattern of raised pellets or annulets in the Gothic Catalan tradition: the upper-left quarter bears a large annulet, the upper-right two pellets and an annulet, the lower-left three pellets, and the lower-right a large annulet. A beaded inner circle frames the cross design, with the Latin legend CIVITAS BARCINONA distributed around the outer margin between the beaded border and the coin's edge.
