Reverse description A short cross pattée occupies the central field, set within a beaded inner circle, its four arms terminating in splayed ends typical of Gothic hammered coinage. The cross divides the inner legend into four segments. Two concentric circular legends surround the central motif: an inner legend and an outer legend, both rendered in Gothic uncial script and separated by a plain annular border. The legends invoke a religious benediction and identify the issuing mint at Maastricht under the patronage of Saint Peter.
