| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bold long cross extends to the inner circle, dividing the reverse field into four quadrants, each containing a small heraldic lion passant or rampant, representing the arms of Holland and Zeeland in alternating arrangement. The cross terminals are plain and the quadrant devices are rendered in low relief, as is typical of hammered groats of the period. A beaded inner circle separates the central cross-and-shield design from the outer legend. The circumferential legend reads NOVA MONETA HOLLAN Z 3ELAN, identifying this as new coinage of Holland and Zeeland, with triple-pellet stops separating the legend elements. The overall composition follows the standard Low Countries groat reverse type of the early fifteenth century. |
