Obverse description Central field dominated by a stylised vine leaf rendered in the Celtic artistic tradition, with multiple radiating lobes issuing from a central stem, the whole presented with bold relief typical of Late Iron Age British coinage. The stem terminates at the base in a short foot. The royal name legend is divided either side of the leaf, with the letters VI (or VE) to the left and RI to the right, in Latin script. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, characteristic of hand-struck Celtic gold coinage of the early 1st century AD.
