| Description du revers | Stylised Celtic horse passant to the right, rendered in the abstract linear manner characteristic of Iceni coinage, with a prominent curved body and attenuated limbs. Above the horse, a six-spoked wheel or solar disc motif occupies the upper field, accompanied by a cluster of pellets to the lower left of the animal. Beneath the horse, a rectangular tablet or panel divided by vertical lines contains a second wheel or ringed cross motif at centre, with a horizontal pellet border forming a decorative base register. The overall composition reflects the deeply schematised, non-naturalistic artistic vocabulary of Late Iron Age Celtic die-engravers, with no inscriptions or legends present. |
